Access

There is no required dress code. While some audience members like to make it a special occasion and dress up in formal evening wear, others prefer a more casual, everyday style. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and enjoy the performance.

For hygiene and safety reasons, animals are not allowed inside the Opera.

An exception is made for guide dogs and assistance dogs, which are very welcome to accompany you. Specific seating is reserved for them in the boxes. Please contact the ticket office directly to arrange your booking.

Because this is a live performance, access to the auditorium (both boxes and stalls) is suspended as soon as the show begins to avoid disrupting the artists and the audience.

Our front-of-house staff will guide you to the Opera foyer, where you can follow the beginning of the performance live on a screen. If an intermission is scheduled, you will be able to take your assigned seat at that time.

The opera house doors usually open one hour before the performance begins.

We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes early so you can find your seat at your leisure and have a look through the programme.

Thanks to our partnership with the Corvésy car park, you can enjoy 5 hours of parking for just €5.

How it works:

  1. Park your vehicle in the Corvésy car park.
  2. Upon your arrival at the Opera (available from 1 hour before the show), present and validate your parking ticket in the dedicated validating machine located in the entrance hall.

Please note: The 5-hour period begins the moment you enter the car park, not when you validate your ticket at the Opera. Remember to check your arrival time!

Several car parks surround the Opera: Sulzer, Palais de Justice, or Cours Saleya. However, we particularly recommend the Corvésy car park (located on Rue Alexandre Mari), which offers a preferential rate for our spectators.

The Opera House is situated in the heart of Old Nice, at 4 & 6 Rue Saint-François-de-Paule. Its prime location allows you to enjoy the lively atmosphere and the proximity to the sea.

If this is your first visit, allow a little time to admire the historic façade before going in!

Bar

No, food and drinks are not allowed inside the auditorium. However, a bar is at your disposal to enjoy light refreshments and purchase drinks before the performance or during the intermission.

Absolutely! Designed as a place for people to meet and socialise, the bar in the Opera House foyer brings new life to the pre-performance and interval periods.

In a warm and welcoming atmosphere, you can meet up to chat, relax and enjoy a selection of drinks or a plate of snacks. A champagne bar is also available to enhance your evening.

Opening hours: from one hour before each performance and during the intervals.

Cloakroom

Yes, a free cloakroom service is available for you to store your coats, umbrellas and bulky bags.

For your comfort during the performance and for security reasons, you must leave bulky items (suitcases, large bags, helmets, bike batteries, pushchairs, scooters subject to availability, etc.) in the cloakroom.

This will allow you to enjoy the show to the full, with your mind and hands free!

First time at the Opera

This is a very common question! For symphonic concerts, audiences generally applaud at the very end of the complete work. For operas, enthusiasm can be expressed right after a masterful, standalone aria.

The secret: If you are unsure, simply wait until the house lights turn back up slightly or follow the lead of the regulars. Genuine enthusiasm is always appreciated—especially at the end during the artists’ curtain call!

It is very simple: all of our operas sung in foreign languages (Italian, German, etc.) are systematically surtitled in French. A discreet screen located above the stage allows you to follow the plot in real-time, just like subtitles at the cinema. The house programme also provides a clear synopsis to help you follow the story.

Quite the contrary! The Opéra de Nice is a vibrant cultural venue open to all residents of Nice and visiting tourists alike. Our auditoriums bring together spectators from all walks of life, all ages, and all styles.
Opera, dance, and classical music are not arts reserved for “connoisseurs”—they are arts of pure emotion. You do not need specific social codes or a particular cultural background to be moved by the power of an orchestra or the grace of a dancer. Whether you come out of curiosity or passion, you belong here.

Opera is first and foremost about emotion, not a passing exam. You do not need to know the history of music to be deeply moved by a voice or a beautiful stage production. Simply let yourself be carried away by the story.

Our tip: Arrive 30 minutes early to soak in the atmosphere and look over the house programme. This is more than enough to let the magic of the venue take over.
