Nice Côte d'Azur Opera

To mark the 50th anniversary of the death of Dmitri Shostakovich, Oleg Caetani and Maya Oganyan invite audiences to explore three facets of this great master of 20th-century music.

Presentation

From the youthful Scherzo (his first official opus) to the final Symphony No. 15 in A major, Op. 141—where the composer playfully quotes Rossini, Glinka, and Wagner—this program traces a deeply personal world that is both virtuosic and lyrical. At its heart lies the essential Piano Concerto No. 2 in F major, Op. 102, dedicated to his son, revealing the full range of his expressive voice.
