SYMPHONIC CONCERT
HOMMAGE À KRZYSZTOF PENDERECKI
Krzysztof Penderecki would have celebrated his 90th birthday this November! The Nice Philharmonic Orchestra pays tribute to this major figure of 20th-century music by presenting his Concerto for flute and clarinet for the very first time in France, one of his final works.
Though Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 and Mendelssohn's The Hebrides Overture now form part of the great romantic repertoire, the music of Krzysztof Penderecki is still too little played in France. To pay tribute to this great Polish composer, we offer you the French première of one of his last works, his splendid Concerto for flute and clarinet, composed in 2018 and premièred, fittingly, by Patrick Gallois and Michel Lethiec. They will be conducted by Polish conductor Anna Sułkowska-Migoń, winner of the La Maestra conductors' competition in 2022.
