SYMPHONIC CONCERT
Russia is a musical continent. From Tchaikovsky to Shostakovich, Lionel Bringuier leads us on a journey through the centuries and inspirations, with two key works: the famous Symphony No. 4 by the former, and Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 1 – certainly one of the most prodigious concertos of the entire 20th century.
Inspired by destiny, Tchaikovsky's famous Symphony No. 4 is a journey deep into the soul and doubts of a composer worried about a world whose meaning is no longer clear to him. A few decades later, Shostakovich would also go through a difficult period. His meeting with the young cello virtuoso Mstislav Rostropovich (teacher of Daniel Müller-Schott) helped him gather his courage once more. He would then go on to create an astonishing work of strength and novelty for him, which has since established itself as one of the major works of the 20th century.
