Clairette, daughter of the famous Madame Angot, has inherited her mother's fiery temperament and doesn't hesitate to defy the Directoire police. But when it comes to her heart, she can't decide whether to marry the chansonnier Ange Pitou or the lovable Pomponnet, a wigmaker by trade...
Heir to Offenbach, Lecocq has established himself as one of the greatest geniuses of comic opera. With La Fille de Madame Angot, he creates a delicate social and political satire, as amusing as it is caustic, in the midst of a sentimental action full of twists and turns. With brilliant music and a libretto full of verve, this funny, thrilling work rightly remains one of the great successes of the light repertoire.
With a flamboyant all-French cast, Richard Brunel and Chloé Dufresne highlight the topicality of this ebullient social fresco, which portrays a combative youth in search of truth and freedom.
