To kick off this France-Lithuania year, Marko Letonja invites us to explore the impressionist colours of Čiurlionis, a major composer who is still too little known in France, and whose sublime symphonic poem The Sea he presents here - also an opportunity to announce the United Nations Conference on the Oceans, to be held in Nice in June 2025.

While the music of Gustav Mahler is today unanimously acclaimed and recognised by the widest possible audience, that of Lithuanian composer Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis has yet to be discovered. What a visionary though! This encyclopaedic mind, as gifted at painting as he was at music, created with his symphonic poems frescoes of a beauty and modernity that have nothing to envy his contemporaries. In fact, Sa Mer predates Debussy's by two years! With Mahler's Symphony No. 4 and his own landscapes, it promises to be a spellbinding concert.
