Inspired by the life of Mahatma Gandhi, Satyagraha is one of the great operatic moments of the late 20th century. Philip Glass, known for his minimalist style, deploys a completely new orchestral language.

The second part of Philip Glass's trilogy devoted to some of history's major figures, Satyagraha was born in a period marked by apartheid and racial discrimination. Here, the american composer focuses on the concept of non-violent resistance to injustice, satyagraha, developed by Gandhi during his long stay in South Africa. From Tolstoy to Martin Luther King, a whole constellation of thinkers who influenced Gandhi or were nourished by his example enter the scene, for a veritable ode to non-violence. For this new production, Léo Warynski and Lucinda Childs, long-time friends of Philip Glass, return after their memorable Akhnaten. A milestone in the history of the lyric arts finally on the Nice stage.

With Satyagraha, experience an immersive journey created by Immersive Opéra, BK International, and videographer Etienne Guiol.

Show in sanskrit, surtitled in French and English.
