Evoking Johann Strauss to discuss the waltz in Romantic Vienna is certainly an appealing image, but a somewhat reductive one. It would be more accurate to speak of "the Strausses"!
We will begin by exploring the work of Johann Strauss the Elder (or the First), before discovering his sons: the lesser-known Joseph and Eduard, and finally the celebrated Johann II. Composers of waltzes, but also galops and polkas, the Strausses of Vienna also wrote a wealth of operettas, always with a constant concern for quality.

Organized by the Cercle Richard Wagner Rive Droite.

The Cercle Richard Wagner Rive Droite was founded in 2010 and is celebrating its fourteenth anniversary this year. Its primary mission is to promote 17th-century operas, especially the lyrical dramas of Richard Wagner, to a broad audience. It is also dedicated to making Wagner’s operatic repertoire and masterpieces accessible to all, in a welcoming environment that embraces all forms of musical expression. With over two hundred members, it is considered one of the most dynamic and active Wagner societies in France. Today, the CRWRD has become a key player in the region’s cultural landscape.
