1993
The Theatre was listed as a historic monument in 1993.
From that point on, major interior and exterior restoration works were undertaken. The first phase focused on safety compliance, the second on the renovation of the façades and roof, and the final phase will address the interior restoration.

In 2019, Bertrand Rossi, who was then interim General Director of the Opéra national du Rhin, was appointed General Director of the Opéra Nice Côte d’Azur, with the goals of restoring the Opéra’s national and international standing, providing stability for the team, and broadening audiences by offering a programme firmly rooted in the present day.
